Community Services Program
The Community Services Program implements the Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention Program that enhances the health and well-being of the
Walpole Island First Nation Community.
Our Goal: To help people with addictions in any form, including alcohol, drugs, gambling, food and social media. Helping those battling addiction by offering supportive services and opportunities to attend detox centres, group programs, and treatment services.
We Offer
Client Services: Screening, Assessment, Counselling and Referrals.
Community based Intervention: Psycho Educational Programming - Based on Red Path, White Bison and Art therapy programs.
Harm Reduction Services: Based on community-driven public health strategies of prevention, risk education and health promotion following harm reduction philosophy.
Youth Prevention: Youth crafts & cooking, drama lessons, fishing derby.
Community Workshops & Presentations - for youth and adults.
Harm Reduction: Focuses on minimizing some of the negative risks associated with drug usage while honouring an individual’s rights & meet them where they are in their journey.
Community Drop-in: A community outreach service to address barriers in accessing services for addictions, mental health, isolation or homelessness.
Provides opportunity to see counsellors, support workers, and medical health professionals for consultations, referrals and seek harm reduction supplies.
