Political Department

The Political Department of Walpole Island First Nation (Bkejwanong Territory) serves as the central body for advancing Walpole Island’s political objectives, protecting treaty and inherent rights, and fostering nation-to-nation relationships. Guided by the community’s values, traditions, and the leadership of Chief and Council, the department supports governance rooted in Anishinaabe law and principles while navigating the complexities of modern political systems.
